Baker
I couldn’t believe Goo was gone. Laying up in a freezer lifeless wasn’t the place for him to be. It had only been a couple days and it already felt funny not hearing from him about some money or him telling me about some wild shit Kira did to him. Every now and then, Goo and Jake would come through and smoke early in the morning before we handled our business in the streets. I missed both of my niggas and my cousin.
Xotica called me last night while me and Jay was roaming the West side looking for Steeno and Dan. Xotica told me Jake was still the same and she was starting to lose hope for him. I told her to keep doing what she doing and don’t give up on him. He might be in a coma, but he probably feed off the energy in the room. It was important for her to remain positive.
As hard as it was for me to do, I told Xotica about Goo. I asked her to step out the room and let her know what happened. She cried and asked should she tell Jake while he was like this and I told her not to. Now wasn’t the time for Jake to hear bad news. When he woke up, one of us would break the news to him.
“Hey Daddy,” Londyn said breaking me out of my thoughts.
“Hey my favorite girl,” I said to Londyn when she walked in the room and hopped up on my lap. She was holding a piece of paper in her hand.
“I made my Uncle Goo a picture.” Londyn held the paper up and showed me the paper she scribbled on wit’ different color crayons.
“Fuck,” I said in a low tone. At this very moment, I remembered today was his birthday. I forgot all about what today was. This made him getting killed even more fucked up.
“You cursed, Daddy. I’m telling Mommy you said a bad word.” Londyn tapped my hand like she was giving me a whooping. I kissed her on the cheek after I got my punishment from her. This lil girl could make me happy no matter how fucked up my mood was. I loved my lil lady more than anything. Me and Co did good work when we made Londyn.
“Aw man my lil lady gon’ snitch on me. Can this be our secret? Mommy gon’ be mean to me if she find out I said a bad word,” I said playing along wit’ Londyn.
“Okay, I won’t tell. I wanna see Uncle Goo.” I wanted to see my mans just like my lil lady did. The reality was the next time I saw Goo, he would be in a casket. I had to see Starks like that, now Goo. Shit had to end soon. If another one of my people died, I was killing everything moving. Straight up.
“Lil lady remember when I told you yo’ granny went to heaven to live wit’ the angel’s next door to God?” Londyn shook her head yeah.
